If you’ve just entered into a relationship today, Valentine’s Day, and made it official on Facebook, there’s a bunch of new features waiting for you on Messenger to announce your status.
Facebook rolled out the update on Tuesday that includes a “shower of hearts” on the screen.
“Starting tomorrow ( referring to today, if you newly indicate you’re in a romantic relationship on Facebook (aka make it “FB official”), you’ll get a Messenger notification that will open to your conversation with your loved one,” Facebook announced.
And then there’ll be a “heart shower” that will appear on your screen.
The new couple will have a customized emoji – a heart eye smiley – and would be prompted to personalize their chat window with text color, emoji, and nickname of their choice.
Facebook said: “Emojis are the new love language: people share over 2 billion emojis every day on Messenger, with 😘, 😍, and ❤ ranking in the top five most popular emojis.”
“Your loved one will be the first person to appear on the Active tab, so you can easily see when they’re available to chat,” Facebook also said.
Meanwhile, Facebook also announced that those who plan to send a love note today could choose from filters and effects in the Messenger Camera and video chat feature.
Mashable sees the new features as an effort to get Messenger users return to Facebook by emphasizing the importance of the “Relationship Status.”
A study conducted by Facebook revealed that 67 percent of people are increasing usage of messaging apps.
Facebook has introduced new features just in time for Valentine’s Day for those who have newly indicated that they are in a relationship.
