Facebook Marketplace Features Houses And Apartment For Rent In The U.S.

Facebook MarketplaceFacebook Marketplace now includes houses and apartments for rent in the U.S.

The world’s most extensive social network has teamed up with Apartment List and Zumper, which collates rental lists from the Web.

In an emailed statement to Mashable, the company said Apartment List and Zumper feature “hundreds of thousands of house and apartment rentals” that users can browse on Marketplace.

House and apartment sellers, on the other hand, can also upload photos of their properties directly to Facebook.

Efficient Use of Marketplace

Facebook hopes that Marketplace will allow users “to more efficiently perform transactions they’ve already been using the platform for.”

The company, however, did not say if the platform will roll out more rental services in the future.

According to Facebook’s emailed statement, the initial rollout “includes custom filters for location, price, number of bedrooms and bathrooms, rental type, square footage, and pet friendliness.”

Those who are renting out their house or apartment can also upload 360-degree photos of their properties on Marketplace.

Available Only To U.S.-Based Users

The apartment rental feature on Marketplace is only available to users in the U.S., and Facebook did not say when it will be available in other countries.

The inclusion of house and apartment rental listings in Marketplace comes just after Facebook entered into a partnership with dealerships like Edmunds, Cars.com, Auction123, CDK Global, Socialdealer, and Kelley Blue Book.

Users can now browse vehicles and check prices on Marketplace. Facebook reportedly plans to enable users to talk directly with car dealers via Messenger.

Also, Facebook allowed employers to post job openings on their business pages early this year.

Search Volume

Meanwhile, a Facebook spokesperson told Mashable that search volume in Marketplace “has tripled since the beginning of 2017.”

Marketplace will continue to explore a variety of new opportunities to partner with businesses, in addition to optimizing the consumer-to-consumer product experience.”
