Travelers, especially those who arrive in an airport in another state or country for the first time, can get lost.
With Apple Maps, however, you can find your way inside 34 airports across the world.
Most of the airports are in the U.S.
Apple Maps also provided indoor mapping for malls in nine American cities. The malls, however, were not identified.
According to a Mashable report, Apple introduced for indoor maps during the company’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) held in San Francisco and San Jose in June.
The indoor maps were rolled out for a dozen airports in various cities around the world with the launch of iOS 11.
On Thursday last week, Apple launched indoor maps for 34 American and international airports and malls in nine U.S. cities.
Among the airports are Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, Berlin Schönefeld Airport, Chicago O’Hare International Airport, Edmonton International Airport,
Geneva Airport, Hong Kong International Airport, Las Vegas McCarran International Airport, London Heathrow Airport, London Gatwick Airport, Los Angeles International Airport, Miami International Airport, New York John F. Kennedy International Airport, Oakland International Airport, Seattle–Tacoma International Airport, and Vancouver International Airport.
Bird’s Eye View
TechCrunch said an airport that’s on the list would show “Look Inside” on the map.
When a user taps the button, a bird’s-eye view layout of the terminal’s interior will pop out.
Indoor maps of malls in Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, San Jose, and Washington, DC.
Mashable said Apple’s foray in indoor mapping is a good beginning for the company and may be meant to compete with Google Maps.
With Apple Maps, a road traveler can also add destinations, by the way.
Apple Maps now features indoor maps of more than 30 airports worldwide.
