While Apple iPhones are still one of the best smartphones, people are now more drawn to use Android.
According to Statista, the first quarter of 2018, 85.9 percent of all smartphones sold to end users were phones with the Android operating system.
In a message on its website, Apple company mentioned:
“We’ve been hearing feedback from our customers about the way we handle performance for iPhones with older batteries and how we have communicated that process.”
“We know that some of you feel Apple has let you down. We apologize.”
Apple recognizes the issue and how it is affecting the users. But they can’t deny the fact that many users are now preferring to use Android operating system.
John Poole said in his blog about “iPhone Performance and Battery Age”,
“Apple acknowledged the sudden shutdown issue that affected the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s earlier this year… If the performance drop is due to the ‘sudden shutdown’ fix, users will experience reduced performance without notification.”
“This fix will also cause users to think, ‘my phone is slow so I should replace it’ not, ‘my phone is slow so I should replace its battery’. This will likely feed into the ‘planned obsolescence’ narrative.”
Apple must learn how to fix this issue if they still want more users to use their product.
In a statement sent to Mashable when the news of the slowdowns broke, Apple defended the move, saying:
“Our goal is to deliver the best experience for customers, which includes overall performance and prolonging the life of their devices. Lithium-ion batteries become less capable of supplying peak current demands when in cold conditions, have a low battery charge or as they age over time, which can result in the device unexpectedly shutting down to protect its electronic components.”
Apple users also need to appreciate the goal of the company which is to deliver overall performance of the product.
The effect of Apple iPhone performance has made a big difference to smartphone users to use Android operating system. What are your thoughts on this? Share your comments below.
